Bring Peace

If we are Peaceful,

We are Happy.

“We can blossom like a flower,
and everyone in our family,
our entire society,
will benefit from our peace.”

Being Peace, Tich Nhat Hanh

+ = ˚͜˚

Without inner peace,

outer peace is impossible.

“We all wish for world peace, but world peace will never be acheived unless we first establish peace within our own minds. We can send so-called ‘peacekeeping forces’ into areas of conflict, but peace cannot be oppossed from the outside with guns. Only by creating peace within our own mind and helping others to do the same can we hope to achieve peace in this world.”

Transform Your Life, Geshe Kelsang Gyatso

by creating peace in our own mind we create peace between nations.

“The only work that will ultimately bring any good to any of us
is the work of contributing to the healing of the world.”

Thatcher’s funeral? Fight a selfish society with Random Acts of Kindness!

Reply with the Light that drives away Dark

Today is Margaret Thatcher’s £10m funeral

Thatcher RiP

Amidst tight security, her corpse is getting a regal send-off, with full military honours.
Apparently the funeral procession is gong to ‘bring London to a standstill‘. Though wether that’ll be because of people mourning Britain’s only female prime minister; or folk celebrating the death of a tyrant remains to be seen.

I grew up in the Thatcher era, I think in a working class family? (Hard to define these days) And it’s hard to think of Thatcher without some kind of anger creeping in there.
Never a good idea, or a train of thought you’d want to follow; any kind of anger won’t help in any situation.
A £10,000,000 funeral does seem like like a sick joke though. After all, in her time as the UK’s prime minister, Thatcher is credited with reviving Britain’s ailing economy, while doubling the childhood-poverty rate. Thatcher’s ’Victorian values‘ were very much skewed towards the evils of capitalism (which doesn’t have to be evil at all.)

“Practice random kindness and senseless acts of beauty” Anne Herbert

practice Random Acts of Kindness instead!

So how wonderful to click onto Facebook this morning, and find several invites to a “Random act of kindness Wednesday 17th April 2013- a reaction in unity” event.

Helping others just for the sheer joy of it, seems a brilliant way to offset Margaret Thatcher’s view that a selfish society is a successful one.

* Does that depend on your view of ‘success’? Can money really bring happiness? (Answers on the back of a postcard please, or below will do ;~)

A Random Act of Kindness is doing something selfless that helps or cheers someone else up. That someone can be a person (including animals) you know or a random stranger.

Doesn’t matter! The aim is to benefit somebody else, just because you can. It’s amazing just how happy that makes everybody involves feel :)

It feels like the perfect response.

The Happy Kadampa: Gloating about Margaret Thatcher’s death gets us nowhere
“Thatcher’s final years appears to have lacked love, she wasn’t close to her children and the best relationships in her life appear to have been with her staff. Thanks to dementia, she had to be reminded of and therefore mourned her husband’s death on a daily basis.
She died in the Ritz, a cause of resentment for many, but it’s a death that reminded me of Geshe-la’s haunting words a few years ago during a teaching on lower rebirth: “Imagine you fell asleep in a luxury hotel room, and during the night you naturally died, and woke up in a place completely pervaded by fire.
I keep being reminded of this section, when I read spiteful comments online. Really, she’s deserving of our prayers, not venom.

“I like to see this as cause for hope & optimism in this topsyturvy world of ours…..we represent (and strengthen) the forces of light, lightness, connection, compassion, and let’s hold that frequency in the face of current horridnesses?”

Together we all will raise the consciousness of the world.
We can’t help but.

The Precariat Class of Samara

Precariat?! Merge precarious with proletariat and you get the Precariat Class

Japanese freeters

Freeters in Japan

The UK suddenly has a precariat class.
We’re not alone of course, the precariat class has been emerging in advanced societies for years now.

But the UK’s traditional class structure is so out of date, it’s been re-jigged to make it more accurate. This involves making up names for the seven classes of people created. Naming something brings it into existence. Imagine the shock of thousands of folk suddenly finding out that this is who they really are:
Class Test

* “I’m middle class. I was so surprised, I nearly dropped my focaccia.”
* “Bow, peasants… I’ve just found out I’m in the Elite group in Britain’s new class system”
* “Broke and cultured?! Just found out I’m in the Technical Middle Class group in Britain’s new class system. “
* “I’m a disabled Precariat, which means I have a condition of existence without predictability or security. Lucky me!”

via #WhatsYourClass on Twitter

You get the picture.

Valmont & TourvelleWe’ve now got seven classes instead of the original three, (upper, middle and working); with the privileged Elite sitting upon its massive wealth at the top. (Although if they’ve any sense, they’ll be re-distributing it to benefit others ~ which is karmically how they got that wealth to begin with.)

there has to be internal change.

it’s our attitude we have to change.”

Sounds reasonable, like wearing shoes instead of trying to cover the world in asphalt. But how do we do it?

Get a realistic view of our world

Not some Disney fantasy of how it should be.
The world we live in is painful. Geshe Kelsang likens it to trying to get comfortable living in a thorn bush. This is the nature of our samsara, the endless cycle of dissatisfaction and pain we’re all stuck in.

Shih Tsu Happens

So relax and stop fighting it.
Our natural human response to fear is to avoid it. I am asking you to look straight at it, feel the feeling, and lean into it instead of away from it.

“Be empowered by this wisdom” Kadam Bridget

Knowing and using this wisdom enables us to cope and deal with our problems.
Our lives are full of endless difficulties.
At the end of the day we can just feel broken sometimes, can’t we.” Bridget
Patient acceptance can dissolve these negative, disempowering feelings away, and in doing so evaporate painful situations. This allows us progress in our lives in a pro-active way. Accepting difficulties with a patient mind, is far from passive, it is taking a “very strong, active stance.” Geshe Kelsang

Happy Valentine’s Day?

It’s 12:41 am, 14.02.2013
which would work better next year, or even last year, but falls short on the final digit today. Fortuitous really, considering how absurdly abstract today is.

Anyway.  It just turned Valentine’s Day.
I hope yous have a good one.

H♡PPY  V♡LENTINE’s  D♡Y!!
❧❥>‿

Not sure why though…

St. Valentine himself was tortured for his Christian beliefs, and then executed for continuing to minister and help people whilst in prison.
So he wouldn’t have had much reason to celebrate.

What really happened

O , ,, _|___\

Singletons wherever this charade is played out, are dismissed by default as being sad, lonely losers in the game of life.

* We’re not BTW, we’re ace

Couples are obliged to dwell in their wonderous couple-ness.
Two lovebirds separate from the world in their hazy mirage.
Another day it’s got to be perfect.
(If it’s not there’s a subtle sheen of disappointment glistening on the surface.)

In fact, and you must excuse my cynicism. But the only ones with any real reason (their overheads already covered) to celebrate, are those who profit from it. They can bank on the silliness of those who play the Valentine’s game to lift the recession blues.

If the above rant means anything, it’s that

Valentine’s Day
means Nothing!

Your’e guaranteed that most of the living beings in the cosmos don’t have any conception of the Valentine’s phenomena, and wouldn’t care for it if they did.
For instance, not being able to eat it or play with it, my dogs would pee on it and walk away. I reckon that’s a fine example of how to treat Valentine’s Day.

No Stress

Stress?! What for?
It’s a day made up by the media!

Doesn’t matter if you’re a couple or a singleton.
Just enjoy the sticky, pink confectionary, smile at the day’s events and share some love if you can.
* love means so much more when it’s unconditional and freely given anyway.

Just keep breathing if you don’t feel up to that.
It’s OK, just watch you breath and walk away.

* It isn’t necessary to pee on anything. (Unless you really want to ;~)

Psychedelic-mermaid meets med-head

I’m writing this from a drug-induced haze of dizziness and strange perceptions.

sick and unsteady, but my head isn’t clearing.

Prescription medications are meant to make you feel better.

Aren’t they? Aren’t they?!
I just want to flush mine down the toilet.

Here’s why…

The EU revoked the license of the MS drug that keeps me awake and functioning, because of its harmful long-term affects. So my new consultant is reducing their dosage. I shouldn’t complain. It’s what my teachers have been suggesting for years.
It’s still a bit of a shock though.
I liked the way the brain stimulant Modafinil energised me cognitively and physically. Who wouldn’t? MS zombie to an almost normal person in one easy pill :)  ~  And back again in one less.

But – and here’s the killing shot – Tegretolthe new epilepsy pills that consultant’s put me on are magnifying the resulting zombie effect so much, that if I was taking the full dose I’m meant to, I couldn’t even sit upright, let alone work out how to write this.
(Sorry fellow bloggers for any late replies, the keys my fingers normally find so easily keep swimming away from me and hiding.)

The Moral? (o_O)

I think that what my teachers have told me before is true.
Despite my initial disinclination to believe them (I did used to be an OT), I must admit that yes. I acquiesce. Is medication from the medical profession mostly a scam? Mistakenly pushed by well meaning doctors who are as confused as we are as to the validity of the dis-ease / wellness scale?

Or at least when the medics see a patient – they look at us, see someone with something broken. Something that needs fixing with pills and a potion. Not a person who would benefit from a holistic approach that would enable the physical or mental ‘break’ to heal itself.

nb. I haven’t flushed my prescription meds down the toilet – yet – and I’m not suggesting anybody else should either.
I’m merely sharing this question for folk to ponder ~
just how much good are the legal pills doing us all?

¯\(°_o)/¯

What do you guys think?….

Imbolc Blessings

Halfway between the winter solstice and the Spring equinox ~ 31st Jan – 1st Feb shines Imbolc, marking the end of Winter and the beginning of Spring.

Imbolc is the perfect time
for spring cleaning and renewal

At Imbolc we can use the seasonal energies to let go of all that no longer serves us.
This makes room for the new that’s ready to be birthed and appear.
Knowing this is right for us we can peacefully and joyfully welcome these new experiences into our lives.
