Yes, luck is a big part of it ~ luck, or good fortune has the potential power to increase our good qualities and produce happiness. Since we created this good fortune with our previous virtuous actions, luck can be seen to be good karma ripening.

Part of working my ass off is understanding the dharma of waiting. I believe this is not an either/ or question, but a question of learning how to balance ourselves as we question what our “success” looks like on a personal level.

That’s such a good point. It’s important to evaluate ourselves on a personal level; not in comparison to others, but finding balance within ourselves.
